Old Llantrisant Hill
Mary and Mary's Child
- Who was Mary?
- Mary was an ordinary girl who lived in the hill country of Nazareth
- Betrothed to Joseph
- Both were poor
- Had relatives that loved God
- Sexually pure (yet with child by the Holy Spirit)
- Startling news
- To this simple girl
- God did not choose a person of great status, many years, popular
- To demonstrate His amazing love and favour to someone who would normally be overlooked
- A unique event in history
- Isaiah
- The promise is given in the garden of Eden
- An example to many that would be talked about for all generations
- Mary praised God
- God shows His love to sinful people and changes their lives
- Example of living in Brazil and the contrast to the UK
- God still speaks today
- A Christmas card (with a verse on it)
- A Carol Service
- Have you thought about these things?
- Mary pondered all these things in her heart
- She was a reflective and a thinking woman
- There is much to challenge careful thought in our society
- If you are confused, the Bible has all the answers
- Mary was initially confused but came to a quiet conviction - "let it be to med according to Your word"
- As you are caused to think about the message this Christmas time - will you receive the message?
- Christmas is all about Jesus
- Not about Mary, the wise men, the star
- All these point to Jesus
- Example of Da Vinci Picture
- Nothing should detract from Christ
- Christ should be and must be the centre of all things
- Without Jesus there would be no celebration
- For some the claims of Jesus are too much
- However, many would embrace Him
- A sword would pierce Mary's heart
- Her precious Son would be crucified
- Peace on earth - peace with God
- Knowing the forgiveness of sins
- When men and women have peace with God - they can have peace with one another
- Christ came initially as a baby - He will come again to judge the living and the dead
- Will you be ready?
- Follow the example of Mary - she was blessed because she believed?
- Mary trusted in God - would you trust
- Will you believe in Jesus Christ this Christmas?
